A police inspector was killed while the police armory was raided after about 40 armed men raided Ido-Ekiti Divisional Police Station in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti state yesterday October 14th.
The gunmen stormed the police station at about 7pm and started shooting sporadically. The attackers used dynamite to blow open some of the stations safe. Police sources say the armed men came for the armory as that was their first point of call during the attack.
The police has also ruled out possibility of the armed men coming to release a high profiled detainee as no one was in the police cell as at the time of the attack.
